Join Us for a Presentation on Rio Vista’s Changing Landscape

Join us via Zoom on Wednesday June 28, at 7:00 p.m., for a presentation on the history of landscape changes at Rio Vista Natural Resource Park. Julia Fonseca will be discussing findings from her report Rio Vista Natural Resource Park, 1936–2021: A History of Land Cover Change, which contains a series of aerial photos spanning a period of more than 80 years. Julia has worked on land and water issues in southern Arizona since 1986. Until her recent retirement, she was the environmental planning manager for the Office of Sustainability and Conservation, where she worked with others to protect species diversity and open space uses for the people of Pima County. In a previous career with Pima County Flood Control District, she worked on groundwater recharge and floodplain protection and restoration. She and her husband currently pursue their research interests through Madrean Resources.
