We had a great time with our partners at Reid Park Zoo and their guests last Sunday, September 6, for their Parks for Pollinators Bioblitz. A Xerces Society Ambassador was also there with many activities for kids and adults. The Zoo’s Pollinator Garden was full of queen butterflies—a favorite with Bioblitz participants.

The Parks for Pollinators campaign is led by the National Recreation and Park Association. For more information, check out the Friends of Rio Vista website’s News item on the park Bioblitz. You can record your plant and pollinator observations at Rio Vista throughout the month of September by uploading photographs to the Parks for Pollinators 2026: Friends of Rio Vista Project on iNaturalist. Don’t forget: For your observations to count toward the Bioblitz, you need to join the Friends of Rio Vista iNat project.
