Critical Discussion on Rio Vista’s Future: next Thursday, April 18

Our natural resource park needs your help. Please join other members of the Rio Vista community for

Discussion and Stakeholder Feedback
Thursday, April 18, 2024, 3:00 p.m.
Rio Vista Natural Resource Park, 3974 N. Tucson Boulevard
Large ramada on the south side of the grass area

with Tucson Parks and Recreation staff and members of the Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission.

Tucson Parks and Recreation needs your recommendations for revising planned changes to the park. These changes are proposed as a first step toward implementation of the Rio Vista master plan.

Friends of Rio Vista and allied stakeholders have submitted concerns about the safety and sustainability of some of these changes. Our concerns were the impetus for the discussion, which was requested by the Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission.

This is your opportunity to advocate for revisions, including the ones that you recommended in the summer 2023 Friends online trail survey. Come and speak up for

  • A trail network that meets the needs of wildlife and native plants as well as human visitors
  • Trail modifications that are safe for all users
  • A feasible, sustainable process for revegetation, supported by a functional irrigation system

We’ll send more information soon. Please join us and other stakeholders next Thursday afternoon for this critical work toward consensus on Rio Vista’s future.
